The Story
Painted from a sketch made at first light on a coffee farm in Kiambu, an hour outside Nairobi. The artist returned to the same hill three mornings in a row to catch the moment the mist lifts off the rows. The cup you are holding may have started here.

Nia paints the slow light of East African mornings. Born in Nairobi and now splitting her time between Kenya and North London, her work returns again and again to the coffee farms of her childhood — the colour of dust on green leaves, the long shadow of a single tree at six in the morning.
